Advanced Hand & Upper Extremity Surgeon Joining Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron Oct. 4
Dr. Emily Tan, fellowship-trained hand and upper extremity specialist, is joining the team at the Blue Water region’s most preferred orthopedic practice, Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron. Providing advanced bone, joint and muscle care for the hand and upper extremity, Dr. Tan will be available to see area residents starting the first week of October at 940 River Centre Drive. As a fellowship-trained hand and upper extremity surgeon, Dr. Tan specializes in surgical and nonsurgical care for a wide variety of common and complex hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder problems. Her expertise includes providing the latest, evidence-based treatments and techniques for a range of hand and upper extremity conditions, including:
- Arthritis.
- Carpal tunnel syndrome.
- Fractures and dislocations.
- Golfer’s elbow and tennis elbow.
- Nerve conditions and injuries.

Dr. Tan earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, California. She went on to complete an internship at Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, before completing her orthopedic surgery residency at Kettering Health Network in Dayton, Ohio. After her residency, Dr. Tan underwent extensive fellowship training in hand surgery at the Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center and Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals in Philadelphia. Dr. Tan also serves as the CEO and founder of White Coat Coaching, where she produces an orthopedic podcast as well as coaches and provides online courses for students interested in orthopedics.
