Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron Remembers Co-Founder, Dr. Wilmont Kreis, and Honors His Life

Wilmont R. Kreis, M.D., retired sports medicine doctor and co-founder of the region’s most preferred orthopedic practice, passed away on Sunday, August 11, after providing orthopedic and sports medicine care to residents of Port Huron and the surrounding communities for more than three decades.

Dr. Kreis, who co-founded Orthopedic Associates of Port Huron in 1983, spent 37 years helping thousands in our region and abroad return to healthy, active lifestyles. A native of St. Clair Shores, he dedicated most of his life to diagnosing and treating area patients’ bone, joint and muscle injuries and conditions and keeping the Blue Water community strong. Dr. Kreis also worked with local charities that enable underprivileged children from Haiti to undergo orthopedic surgery in the United States in addition to authoring a score of novels on early upper North America and modern medical thrillers.

From 1976 to 2013, Dr. Kreis practiced orthopedics and sports medicine in Port Huron. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School, he completed residency training in orthopedics at University of Michigan-affiliated hospitals. He was an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and served as an attending physician for high school ski clubs and Port Huron Northern High School football games. Each year, he conducted sports physicals for Port Huron area high schools, Marysville High School and St. Clair County Community College.
